During my third year of university in the course Styling and Image Making, we were tasked with an in-depth project involving the analysis and recreation of an assigned painting. This comprehensive project required us to research the artist, subject matter, and historical context, including the painting's style and art movement. We also examined formal elements such as composition, color scheme, technique, and the depiction of visual details like clothing and hairstyles. This was a group project, I had to collaborate with Niki Miltiadous.
We focused on meticulously studying these aspects to create a faithful photographic recreation of the painting. This involved capturing not only the stylistic and formal qualities but also translating the painting into a photograph that faithfully represents the original image. This project enhanced our understanding of visual analysis and technical translation in art.
